I'm not that steady of a bench shooter and I want to see what my .17 is capable of, after the bbl is properly broken in, course.

My OPINION only---------

Your going to be as steady with a bag or two of shot as you are something like this---you may want to get a rifle bench vice for what you are wanting to do---or borrow one!:cheers:

These look pretty slick on TV, but so does most of the stuff there trying to sell us. Be interested to see if the are as pratical as they make them out to be.

One thing to think about, if the gun is a hard kicker (not the .17, the others!) the stock can be split at the tang pretty easily with those rests. There is NO give to them, all the recoil is taken at the tang of the stock. A guy on another forum told that he split two stocks on his .378 before wising up:boohoo:, and yet another told that he killed a .300 Mag stock, too, so it's not just the bruisers. Just something to think about..........

Would only be for the .17.. or maybe a Kimber .22 that I am thinking about.

What about the .22-250? Its fairly soft on the shoulder.

NEVER would I use this, or even see the need, for my 7mag.

Judging from what I have read the lead sled is the cadillac. I believe its main asset is in reducing felt recoil. I use an adjustable rest by Outers to rough zero sights but default to a sandbag and cradle I made myself for the closers. That way all my little bad habits are built into the final solution.

you know i got one for xmas last year and havn't used it yet and i also got a 17 this spring but havn't got it zeroed in and a couple of boxes of shells laying around i think i'll try it out sunday and see how she works.:cheers:

I have the led sled and love it. I use one shot bag at 25lbs and a sand bag. Really does reduce the recoil and makes siting in real easy. Very adjustable and also easy to take to the range.
