After my Caribou ordeal which I told you all about, I decided that the remaining money that i would have spent on the hunt would go to a hunt in Onterio for whitetail. I am going with the outfitter that I have been bear hunting with the last 5 years so at least I know ware he lives:stickfight: and is a reputable deal. Any how I know some folks were asking about Onterio deer hunts earlier this year so hopefully in Nov I will have a great hunt report to post. From the pic he has shown to me it looks like a chance for a deer with some great MASS!

I am going with a gun, I live to bowhunt and most of my out of state hunts are bowhunts, but getting big whitetails on the ground is hard enough, so for my first hunt up north the browning is going to work.

Not to be nosey or anything, but can you give us an idea of the total cost of the hunt--outfitter costs and permits (not including transportation, since that would vary depending on flights, or road travel with people sharing the cost, etc.)? Reason I ask is, I nearly did an Idaho elk hunt last fall, and I would like to know how a Canada hunt compares in cost to a Western US big game hunt. Thanks.

As far as cost for a Canada whitetail hunt go I have the following.

1) Outfitter/Guide service Including, accomadations, All meals & transportation to & from stand sites, all stands & blinds, Care of your deer, 5 Full Days of Hunting $1995.00 With 10% discount for 6 or more hunters.

2) Deer Tag/License $175.00 (Appx) It may be $130.00

3) Export Permit $35.00 (To take your deer out of Canada)

We can drive to our destination and the outfitter will pick us up by boat and deliver us to our cabins.

Our location is 1.096 miles from my house Appx 16 hr drive.

I'm planning on under $2.500.00 With Gas.

I am paying $1525.00 which includes everything, minus import fee for rifle, $50 i believe, and export fee for deer(hopefully), which is around $35 US i think. And of course travel. I drive every year when I bear hunt and it is about a 16hr drive from my dads house in South St.Louis county. Pretty good deal considering the amount of big bucks coming from this guys place.

Thanks for the info., guys. Wow, RAKMAN, that is a heckuva deal, compared to hunts out west. I guess the one difference in the comparison would be that you are hunting whitetails, which we have here, while western US hunts have big game available which we do not have. On the other hand, those Canada deer sure get big and it would be neat to see new country...
