Binocular Suggestions

I’ve been wanting a good pair of binoculars for a few years but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I mainly want them for scouting bean fields in the afternoon looking at deer. Secondly they would be used in the tree stand while bowhunting and maybe out west spot and stalking elk. I’ve been eyeing a pair of Vortex 12x50 but wonder if they would be to strong to use in the tree stand. My el cheapo Tasco 8x don’t cut it anymore with aging eyes trying to see across a field. What power does everyone recommend? I’d like to keep it under $200 if you have a suggestion on brand other than Vortex.

12X is going to have a pretty narrow field of view. I dont even like much using my 10X over my 8X really for Missouri.
Out west is a different animal though.

12x50 is killing a fly with a sledgehammer for stand hunting IMO. I do OK out west 'lope hunting with 10x42.
Buy the best glass you can afford.

I use 10x42 for everything. I've used them out west to bow hunting around home and they've served me well.

I agree with Wings, buy the best you can afford no matter the size.

I’ve heard good things about Bushnell Engage and Legend Ultra HD.

There have been many conversations about Binos here, and Vortex is mentioned quite a bit as being an excellent choice for the money. You can spend LOTS more, and I've never actually looked through a really high end pair, but the Vortex I have are awesome.
Pretty sure they're 10x42s, Love them for the woods, and they went on an Alaskan cruise last month as well.

Got my wife 10X vortex for our mule deer hunt and was very impressed for the money. I would get the larger objective lens if size isn't an issue.

Another vote for Vortex. I have the 10x42 and think they do a great job considering what I paid for them.

My nikon monarch 5's 10-42 are awesome. Can see well after shooting light with them. I like them in the woods and fields alike. I dont know what they run now. I've had mine for a while. If I want to see something farther I'll use my spotting scope.

Looks like the Vortex Diamondback or Crossfire 10x42 will be what I need to find the best deal on now. Thanks guys.
Wait till the Diamondbacks go on sale for $130

I been eyeing the same pair I think for out west, did you find them for less than two, I found them 220 on amazon.

Where will that be do you think, I have one of their scopes seem to be excellent for the price.

Bass Pro and Optics Planet do it once or twice a year. Might have been $120 I don't remember. I'll remind you if I see it again.

Ive found the 12x vortex crossfire for under $200 on eBay. Can't find the 12x diamondbacks for under $200 though. Not sure of the difference between the two models. The 10x42 diamondbacks on eBay are $179. The crossfire 10x42 are $130. I'll keep looking if I find a better price I'll bump this for you. Anybody have an opinion if the Diamondbacks are worth the money over the Crossfire? I'm not near a store where I can handle both together to compare.
I have the diamond back scope and love it, Midway has it right now for 199. Just came in an email 11 minutes ago.

I'll look and see what I can find on the difference.
Here's what I ran across first

Conclusion
Bottom line, it 's hard to crown a victor in the vortex crossfire vs. Diamondback binoculars battle. Thus, it depends on your preferences. If you are keen on the field of view, then the Diamondback will be the binocular for you. On the other hand, if you want greater value for your money the Crossfire series will appeal to you. Nonetheless, both lines of binoculars are suitable for hunting and can also be used for other applications including bird watching. In conclusion, the series of binoculars you choose to settle on will depend largely on your preference. Nevertheless, hunters will be inclined to go for binoculars in the Crossfire series while bird watchers might prefer binoculars under the Diamondback series.
I read the same review and another one or two that said basically the same thing. One said both have an excellent warrantee so even if the cheaper version by chance gets fogged up it would be replaced. It’s not like I’m going on trips where not having binoculars would ruin my hunt. I might just pull the trigger later and buy the Crossfire 10x42 and get the harness with cover. Should be able to stay under my $200 budget and still be very happy.
