Be careful out there! Serious tree stand accident in Stone Co.

Bad enough they are asking for life flight!
Be careful and check or replace those straps! As an extra precaution, I have either chains or vinyl coated cables on mine that get tightened with heavy duty turnbuckles. I replace straps every couple of years at most, but the chains/cables will hold the stand if a strap should be weak.

Hate to hear of it. Wonder what the details are, how it came about? I use a Summit climber, not a lot can fail on that.

No details were broadcast other than "a long fall from a tree stand". The patient was conscious and breathing, but in very serious condition.

make sure you have the bottom tied to the top, it gets sketchy quick even tied up. Pretty near make you **** yourself when the bottom lets go.

I use Third Hand Archery Stand Stabilizer Straps. Fantastic product! Locks the top and bottom sections together rock solid when the stand is set and you're hunting. Keeps top and bottom sections connected climbing and descending. Can't imagine not having those on my stand.
Got a sunroof on the truck. Pretty tough to get hurt popping up through there

Just roll the window down way cheaper

And won't blow out your windshield from the muzzle blast :elmer:
Amateurs. 89’ Camaro IROC-Z with t-tops. Room to hunt for you and your old lady. Quick enough to outrun the landowner or Johnny green jeans too.

A friend in Columbia had a stand platform break a few weeks ago. A step caught him right at the back of his jaw. Ripped him open past his ear, missing the main artery by less than a 1/32. Finally I have him convinced to wear vest, use Hunter Safety ropes and use the proper climbing equipment to install the rope, stands etc. Does not pay to be invincible.

That's why I try to find a hill. Plus my trucks pretty tall.

Where did the platform fail? Bad weld? That's one of my biggest fears....
I'm done using the screw in steps. I know another guy that fell and caught one in the bag on the way down. Sticks are a little money, but better in every way.

I just talked to one of his bosses and he was telling me about that. Bad deal.

Those straps should be included with all climbers. Makes a climber so much more safe when locked in and hunting. Also allows 2 straps to connect the top and bottom so if the bottom does fall while climbing it doesn't fall too far or at an awkward angle.

Agree that they are a must for any climber. They can be bought at most any farm supply or automotive supply that sells straps for
5 bucks a pair and installed in about 2 minutes.

To the topic, there has been lots of projections on this topic. Did anyone actually hear what happened? Or what failed?
Who was the guy on here that got hooked with a screw in step and ripped him open bad? I can only remember the pics

Goosekilla or something close to that I believe.
