Bass Pro..did you know?

As a rule I do not do business with BP, always went with Cabelas until the merger but now avoid both..until recently and now kinda regretting it.

I have been wanting to get a M&P SHield for a CCW, since the 2.0's came out the older model got pretty cheap. I had a link to a couple of places that had them in stock but needed to sell something first to get the $$...so that sale happened & I checked the links to only find they were now out of stock...bummer. Then lo and behold BP had a sale on some weapons which included the old M&P's...sweet I guess I'll hold my nose and go there. Went there and they had them in stock ( which I was almost amazed of)..filled out the paperwork and as has always happened for decades I get put on a "delay". I dont know why it just happens that way so i accept it and come back 3 days later and pick up the weapon. I dont buy many "new" weapons but the last few have been off of Gunbroker with no issues other than my 3 day wait. I just wanted to handle the M&P one more time and their(BP's) price was in range of the other previous options. So I wait and having that 3 day delay going by way of columbus day I wait a week.. I was told I would be given a call but never trust that. I spoke with the young man that sold me the weapon and we had anice conversation until he in a kinda snippy tone asked " well did we call you?" i said no but usually 3 day wait etc etc blah blah blah and he proceeded to tell me BP's policy is not to let the weapon go until word from the feds have been received to proceed... Humm ok now I'm miffed but not mad. He said it could take weeks. I then said I bet that really pisses a lot of people off buying new weapons for upcoming Deer and Bird seasons. He said OH YEA we got stacks of rifles and shotguns sitting in the back room and some people are getting pissed. I felt like saying WEll no Sh*t! Anyway just apartial rant and a PSA warning that unless you are able to walk in and walk out when buying a weapon .. you might want to avoid BP. I was told about some # you can get that will expedite buying a weapon next time and altho I never see a reason for it I might see about that just incase

NEVER had an issue with walking in, doing the paperwork and walking right back out the same day. What is driving this "delay" for you bean?

Probably legal issues 30-40yrs ago that are "expunged" Bean Walmart had the same policy.

I got no idea why..name is not as common as a Joe Smith" type of name its just been that way for as long as I can remember..only once on a GB purchase did I go through immediately I then thought my troubles were over.. I have just lived with it

I have had nothing "expunged" maybe my first wife' troubles she put me in a real bind years ago and a business partner got in trouble down in Texas, the law tried to get me to roll on him but I honestly didn't know what he was up to..maybe that.

I have not bought anything from Wal Mart either except ammo

I wonder what shipping and FFL charge would add up to?.. probably about even if I were a bettn man and I was right but the killer was/is that I buying a 40 since my wife carries a 40.. they dont have any for sale and shipping + FFL ='s a wash
Bass Pro sent out some fliers, and notably, one of the items they had on sale was a shotgun I wanted, so after looking at the mailer (same day), I jumped in the truck and drove over there. They told me they were sold out... So, I asked when they'd have the sales items IN stock, and he couldn't tell me. I haven't been to a BP since that day.

It was a handy place to get to, right across the river, but the two states decided to build new bridges (and make it even handier to get to), and put toll booths on the bridges. I haven't been to Indiana since they did that. The Cabela's store is in Kentucky, but since the merger, I've only been in there once, and it was just a redux of BP by that time, so I quit going there, too.

yea I heard stories of such shinaginagans and I was a few days late from the beginning of the sale...so I called first really expecting the "Sold out " story but the guy said they l had several still in stock...really amazed me
On a delay, ATF will contact within 3 days if there indeed is a issue. I am not aware that they would return a call to proceed, the gun shop would proceed after 3 days of no call

guess what.. that aint the way BP plays it..its been 10 working days not including Columbus day..what would you suggest besides trying to buy one elsewhere?

you don't pay tax thru Palmetto also so the FFL or shipping is a break even there, and luckily my buddy i work with has his FFL and i haven't paid an FFL fee for 20+ years, i sure hope he never quits working with me

I wouldn't even think a background check would still be valid after that long. I've had one delay and it was Walmart. The worst gun buying experience I ever had was at Cabela's.

since BP & C's are literally the same place I can see why
I had an awesome experience at Cabelas bought a used .357 haggled a little with the gun library guy agreed on price walked over to the register filled out the background check on a computer was approved cashed out left.
