    Leadwood.
tin snips go a long way and I stopped just short of the sawzaw but I got them cleaned. fried up the back straps in andys fish seasoning and it was pretty good. I have to say the perch that I fixed with it were a little better but I did like the gar.

I just hate to kill something and not eat it.

Pastor do you ever shoot any bighead carp? I've eaten them and they are pretty good. Kinda tough to filet but once done the meat is white and flaky.

Gar makes for good filler at a fish fry.

I like gar over perch, but I've never been accused of being quite right

Get a good longnose pastor and you'll like it more although the texture is something like frog legs, squid or gator, gar definatley doesn't have the normal fish texture which is why I think most people don't like it
