be still my heart
Because the BATFE says so. Laws don't have to make sense but they are still the law.Splain to me how that qualifies as a pistol?
MDC never said that to my knowledge, they just allowed them to be used during archery season. Just the same as they never said a pistol was a muzzleloader.Because the BATFE says so. Laws don't have to make sense but they are still the law.
MDC considers crossbows archery so...
Mostly because it has a pistol grip, and no stock, making it designed to be fired one handed. Put a VFG (vertical fore grip) on it, and then it's no longer a pistol because it's been made to be fired two handed. Then you're getting into NFA territory, assuming you have a short barrel on it. It can get tricky.Splain to me how that qualifies as a pistol?
Thanks Kurt, that's the explanation I was looking for. For once, length doesn't matter.Mostly because it has a pistol grip, and no stock, making it designed to be fired one handed. Put a VFG (vertical fore grip) on it, and then it's no longer a pistol because it's been made to be fired two handed. Then you're getting into NFA territory, assuming you have a short barrel on it. It can get tricky.
Plenty of people thought I was wrong to put my 20" Bushmaster upper on my pistol for the Alternative Season, but it's perfectly legal. Barrel length doesn't matter.

Seems to muddy the water when the BTAF comes out with statements or opinion like the situation I posted. A lot of grey area on a topic that was considered black and white until this recent "opinion"........ What is sure to be a nightmare for gun owners is a wet dream for BATF and attorneys...Yeah, they haven't like the braces since they came out. OAL is how they've chosen to mess with them.
