Applying for Managed Hunts due by end of month

Not sure if anyone posted anything on the Managed hunts yet, but in case some of you guys felt like applying but forgot, I got a text from MDC today reminding me if I wanted to put in for the managed hunts, last day is going to be at the end of July. I applied for the any deer one 2nd weekend of rifle season at Weldon. Doubt anything will happen with it, but at least get some more preference points.

Saw a new one around here, at the Busch Shooting range that sounded real good, but turns out it's only for people that haven't got one yet. Kind of wish they had some of these what seem like better-chance hunts, before I ever got my first one. Can't complain too much though, I did get my first one at a managed hunt, just not the very first time.

But yeah anyhow, in case someone forgot, there's only a few more days left to do it.

I put in for one last night. We got drawn last year but I doubt it happens twice in a row.
Bracing for my annual **** kicking

I noticed that results will be posted August 15th. That's earlier than usual. Which is good!

Didn’t put in but was told to here because the guy told me locals would have priorities over others.

I’m thinking how can this be with it being random drawing?

The guy owns property next to the hunt and is wanting to keep people out. He is so :bs:

:D Need the Big Grin.
I put in for the one at Bennett Springs. First time I've ever put in for a managed hunt so I dont expect much but with a 33% chance of getting drawn last year, I hope to be lucky enough to get my 3 person group in. You can shoot 2 does and then get 1 buck with 4 points or more on one side. Fingers crossed!
My Son and I have 8 points built up. Keeping our fingers crossed.
i like Powder Valley, 8 permits and 432 put in for them 2 deer were taken

I put in for a chigger and tick infested CA, cause they like me
Seams like could be way more bow hunts like on state parks, those places are loaded with deer

That is what I was told to put in for. If I heard right you have to hunt where they want you to hunt.

I always liked Caney Mountain but it isn't like it use to be.

:D The Big Grin hunts a place to lay down.
I figured that if I need some meat, 2 does with a rifle should be some what easier there but who knows. I do work in the area so it would be easy to get off work a bit early and head there. I wonder if they give you a general area of make you sit in a specific spot or tree?

I don't need it to be able to shot a deer but I figure that it would be an fun experience and a way to get some meat in the freezer. Also thinking ahead for elk season. Maybe some points accumulated will help in a hail Mary pass.
believe our group has 24 points,we shall see
Just saving mine up for the elk hunt.
lol, I hear they may put points up for sale a dollar a point, im in for thousand:D

This is my thinking as well . Especially parks located in cwd hot zones , like Meramec for example . Seems like a good opportunity to test a bunch of deer and thin out a heavy population as well . It doesn't make sense to me

That's because you don't have to worry about any moose chasing you down the mountain.

Put in for the first time this season. Doubt I get pulled but you have to start somewhere.

They give you a certain area to hunt in and last year 17 Deer were killed.

If I was hunting I would Archery Hunt, Kill my Deer and call it good.

Think about it if you're in the area can hunt COE and MTNF and be better than hunting Bennett. Not have to put in for a drawing.
