I got started 2 years ago, tagging along with a buddy of mine. After shooting my first fish with a bow, I haven't picked up a pole since. The wife keeps saying no to a boat, sooner or later one will be in the yard. :D Looking forward to the spring now, ready to bow fish!:dancin:

Thanks for the link GoGop, it will keep my busy for a while. I'm hoping were going to get setup to bowfish at night. I don't handle a full day of sun on the water to well. Were looking to use propane lanterns connected together to a single 10-25lb cylinder. Another buddy of ours is already doing it, quiet light and allot less glare.

I don't bow fish, but I do spearfish....

Nuthin like spearin a 20 lb flathead...

I love this sport cause it kinda mixes spot & stalk bow hunting & scuba diving into one sport. Plus, catfish outta a nice clear lake like Norfork sure do taste good outta the fryer.

Never been a big fan of eating carp, so the bowfishin thing has never really interested me.

Got into it myself about 3 years ago and ate up with it. Bowfished my first tourney down here last year and it was a blast, although we didn't get into em it was still fun. definately out of my league tho compared to the other boats with all the elevated decks but we hung with em shooting off the stock deck.

The way we've been shooting at night is with a cheapy $10 12 volt million candle power spot light. Quiet and lets you put the light were you need it. WE just take turns shooting.

Keith and Robin of AimLow are good people and put out great video on bowfishing.
Another good site full of info is bowfishusa.com.

Never bowfished but I have always wanted to go try it out. It looks like a blast! I bow "hunt" and have a boat so I don't know whats stopping me. Guess I should buy the rigging and give it a try--anyone up for comming along with a newbie this spring to show the ropes? :pop:

Dwb, we ar neighbors! I have some GREAT spots to shoot allot of fish, we just need the river to rise and it gets FUN and it is very close to home...
I see that. We'll have to keep an eye on the river and hit it while the gettin's good. Do you only bowfish at night, or can it be done all day in the spring?

I LOVE BOWFISHIN.....I use my recurve, and a retriever reel, and a muzzy gar point on a fiberglass arrow.....tons of fun...I chase them from the bank, in the daylite....Would love to try it at nite out of a boat! Both my kids, and my first bowkills were fish!!! Kids love it, they get to kill something like the big boys, instead of just shooting at a target...
