been out quite a bit this season and have yet to see a single deer. even in all the "go-to" spots, not a single deer. we havent even seen anything in the cut bean fields after dark..(no..not spotlighting, our driveway curves towards the bean field and we usually catch em in the headlights while driving). I'm not even sure how to approach where we sit anymore as i'm not sure its going to matter. I dont get it. anyone else running into this problem?

Two trips to place just outside Maryville.
First trip with a bow - had a 6 point walk right under the stand.
Second trip with a rifle - closest I came to filling a tag was when three ran in front of my truck in the fog on H highway.

Other than that - nothing but birds, squirrels and empty tracks...

craziest thing is, we never saw anything that resembled the rut. no chasing, I have only seen one rub on a tree this year. a couple weeks ago there were a couple ground scrapes, but they only were tended for about 3-4 days than they were left alone. i guess if nothing else I'll have to borrow the in-laws muzzleloader a bit later on

Jeremy - same thing here; I was telling my wife this has been my slowest deer season in probably 20 years. I've only seen two button-bucks this rifle season; last year opening day I saw more deer in the first 15 minutes than I've seen this entire rifle season.

Weird thing is bow season was pretty good, then rifle season hit, and....bammmmmmm...all the deer seemed to vanish. Again, I've hunted multiple properties and everything just seemed to be slow.

Oh well, I'm looking forward to some late season bow hunting!

fellas, it aint the deer.. ITS YOU!

i thought the same thing. opening weekend i was at the spots we SLAYED em last year. what appeared? Nothing! Same story from everyone - no deer, where are they!? After the first day I decided to adapt and experiment while my buddies insisted on being consistent. Usually I too would be consistent and sit where we always kill deer, but I had 2 other guys who were doin that so why not do something different.

I went to different locations which I had not been to or which I dismissed due to previous scouting. You know what happened? I got some deer. Doing something different worked for me. If you're in the same tree at the same time every day and it isnt working... then I would suggest change.

I could be completely wrong though and All of the deer in your area just left.

Good Luck fellas - You Still Have Time!

Been a good season as far as seeing deer just no shooters.......19 opening day,26 sunday and 2nd Saturday 59 sure some may have been bumped but have learned where I need to be when the time comes and every one else becomes impatient and feels the need to get out and walk around. :D:D:D:D Total of 17 bucks.

No doubt, the deer are there, we just aren't seeing them either. Something has changed their movements this year a little different from normal in our areas.

It's slowed way down since last weekend for us as well. Opening morning I don't know how many shots I heard on the lease east of Salem, but I bet I didn't hear 15-20 shots all day long yesterday. That's ok, I'm ready for some late season bow hunting and smokepole hunting. :D
