They'll be done with the main growth about mid-August, but they won't start losing their velvet until the last week of August and the first week of September.

The difference from Missouri to Mississippi is only a couple of weeks on anything to do with the deer's movement and biological behavior.

i seen a big bodied buck with about 2 inch velvet. this was on wednesday. he jumped right in front of my truck as i was headin to work. 30 more yards and my left side mirror would of hit him.
o yeah my salt lick is gettin hammered! man big ole buck and doe prints down in there. and as i studied my lick more and more i seen a few scrapes along the sides of the licks.
