Finding them in only part of the battle. Being able to shoot your jig way up under the dock is usually the hard part.

  2. He sure makes it look easy getting them up in there.

  3. Is there a certain stiffness of rod that works better than others for this?

Yea, depending on brand you'll want something light to med-light action. Floppy ultralights don't work well. I use 5'4" G Loomis Light Fast action, and 6' BnM SharpShooter Six

For the Price, the BnM is pretty good.

Side imaging is what I need, especially this time of year. You can pound docks all day and get frustrated because you didn't hit the 1 or 2 that had the fish stacked. You're out there shooting blind. In the spring pre-spawn lots of docks hold at least some fish. In the winter only some docks hold fish, but usually there's a pile when you find them

Yep, what Meller said. My favorite is a 6' medium light BPS Microlite graphite rod. Trying to shoot jigs with an ultralight that doesn't have enough back bone will just tick you off.

True story! If you don't have side imaging, my recommendation is to target bluff dock that sit out away from other docks, if you can find them. Those usually always have some fish on them in the winter. The side imaging really helps though when you are graphing a long row of docks because there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason as to which docks they will be piled up on. Plus if they generate water, it tends to move those fish around as well. They may there one day and gone the next.

Loomis 6' medium and a Team Diawa 6'3" medium are my 2 main rods.. Both have a fast tip which I believe is the key to shooting docks..There is also certain tricks that you can do to the baits which help out a lot this time of year..
Seth I'll let ya know how it is this weekend..:wave1::wave1::wave1:

If a dock has brush tied to it then it is always a plus, but most of docks are just sitting over deep water with a decent sized swim deck.

@seth_turner_04 What SI unit are you running? I think I'm going to bite the bullet, my old boat just sits this time of year, need to get it equipped right so I can use it.

I'd go with the biggest screen you can-it's nice to have multiple views on one screen and see more detail!
