Whether you like the dude or not....

I guarantee you, if someone handed me a gun, told me it was empty, I didn't check, pointed it at a friend and killed them, I would be facing man slaughter charges at minimum, why is this even in question.

1. Why on Earth are they using "real" firearms in movies.
2. So, I know I am holding a "real" firearm in my hand, before I could ever consider squeezing the trigger, I would verify 100% that it's not loaded.

Does the guy need to go to prison for this, I guess that's debateable, as for the most Part, I think prison should be saved for violent criminals. But, at minimum, he needs to be held accountable for his actions, or maybe it's lack of action.

I was wondering why he was pointing a gun at a photographer. I’m guessing they were getting film with the camera perspective of being fired upon, and that’s how the photographer and director may have gotten into the line of fire. You see that shot all the time in the movies.
Agreed but for the life of me, I cannot understand why anyone would ever use a real firearm, capable of firing real ammuntion for a movie prop... That defies all logic to me, but assuming that is what has to be done, before I squeeze the trigger, I am making sure it's ok and not taking someone else word on it.....

It was neglegence for sure, combined with a whole lot of ignorance.

IMHO this is a serious crime and he needs prison time, but expecting plea deal and probation or "community service". 🤬
That is what I expect as well, he'll maybe pay a fine, do some community service, and get probation or suspended sentence..... I don't see him doing hard time for this.

I honestly dont think he should goto prison for this. As part of this countries problem is prisons flooded with non violent felons, while many violent ones serve short terms or go free because of overcrowding. Save the cell space for them. But he needs to be held accountable for his negligence.

How wuld you hold him accountable ? ,,,What punishment is there other than prison ?
Apparently the crew had been shooting out back inbetween shooting takes ............the husband of the woman shot is now excecutive producer and entitled to a portion of the films profits.........IM surprised production to finish the film is still in the works
I’d make him hurt financially, limit his ability to travel outside the country, serious community service, put a bracelet on his ankle and restrict his freedoms, but putting him in a cell don’t make sense to me because he didn’t intend to kill anyone, i dont want him taking a prison slot that could be filled by a real violent criminal. You can make his life miserable without putting him in a jail.

Love this, all I would add is he is no longer allowed to touch or handle ANY firearm, or ANY prop resembling a firearm, or any item that could be considered a real or fake firearm, small arm, large arm, basically anything that can launch a projectile or missile.
If he is a convicted felon. I believe that will be the case.

Don't worry. It's obvious that you're not the only one who is a hypocrite here, but at least you're honest about it. If this same thing happened to any of the names you mentioned, we'd be saying "Well why didn't the person in charge of the firearms and blanks make sure it was OK first?". :sneaky:
Let me ask you Seth..... If I handed you my 1911 45, and told you it was unloaded, so you pointed it at Bob and pulled the trigger, and it went off and killed him... What do you think would happen to you? I mean, I told you it was unloaded, I didn't tell you to point it at Bob an pull the trigger, but you did. I would expect, at minimum, you would be charged with negligent homicide, as would I for telling you the gun was empty. I honestly see no difference in this case, it's just the way I see how it would play out for anyone else. The fact he was making a movie, does not give him immunity from being prosecuted.

All that said, I don't think he belongs in prison for it, but should be held accountable in such a way it's at least a bit painful for the guy.

I agree with everything you said about responsibility for the gun, but that has nothing to do with my comment at all. The guy I quoted said he'd show leniency towards the actor if it had happened to somebody that he likes (Eastwood, Wayne, etc) and I said he wouldn't be the only hypocrite here. That's all.

Do you honestly think the majority of this group would not show favoritism to somebody they are a fan of if they had done the same thing?
Can't speak for everybody, but it doesn't matter who they are, law should be applied the same.... We know it doesn't always work that way, but I firmly believe that it should. take it or leave it, it's how I feel.

I dunno Seth, I think most of the peoplle who post on MWT are serious enough about gun safety that we'd all want to see same thing regardless of the politics or fame of the perpetrator...... I feel that way anyway, gun safety is just that important to me....

It's a pretty simple.... People are going to call out AB on this, because he's been a complete areseclown in regard to guns while at same time glorifying their use in his shows..... Complete hypocrite, then when this happened acted as if he had no cuplability in the matter. It was someone else's fault, he even claimed he didn't even pull the trigger at first. Will I feel less sympathy for him, compared to someone else if he gets hard time for this, you bet. A lot of people don't care for the dude, so it's only natural seeing him in pain, would bring a perverse sense of joy to many. :D

Never thought of Sethro as a lefty, just a guy who questions stuff, and is probably somewhere in the middle like most of us are.

I wouldn't call me a die hard righty, but some where closer to middle on many things

Now, I know people, even long time "friends" who will not even talk to me anymore for one simple reason, I voted for Donald Trump, although at the time... I was voting against Hiliary more than for Trump.... Later, sort of liked some of what he did, although will always believe Trumps worst enemy, is his own mouth. :D

He may be close to the middle but there is really little blunt he leans left. I would say he is a bleeding heart liberal, but for him to say he doesn’t lean left would be disingenuous.
Well, there is bleeding heart liberal, and then there is bleeding heart liberal as defined by 20'...... :D
