Horrible
I think it said the population will be at 4 male and 4 female now. Wonder where the one that crossed the ice into the mainland went?"Four Canadian wolves were captured and air-dropped on Lake Superior's Isle Royale National Park in Michigan - effectively doubling the pack's current numbers - as part of an effort to rebuild the dwindling wolf population and help control the moose population, officials said Monday.
Helicopter crews fired net guns to capture the wolves, three males and one female, in Ontario last week, the National Park Service said. The wolves were sedated and examined by veterinarians before being transported to the U.S."
So....Michigan had 2 wolves and now they have 6 wolves? ….and one of the 4 is female....unless the original 2 Michigan had were females that one female has a big job ahead of her if they want to rebuild their population.
Saw a bumper sticker up there once, "Get addicted to wolves - Smoke a pack a day!"Wingshooting wolves anyone?
They plan to release 30 to 40 before the program is over.
If they ever get a chance to cross the ice it will be to Canada where they came from to begin with.
Back to Canada? Like the one from the UP that was shot by Chillicothe MO?They plan to release 30 to 40 before the program is over.
If they ever get a chance to cross the ice it will be to Canada where they came from to begin with.
Yup, thats likely the outcome. They travel to where they can find a food source.
I can see it now....."Wolf kills elk in Missouri".
Have you looked at a map to see where this island is ?Back to Canada? Like the one from the UP that was shot by Chillicothe MO?![]()
Well I figure if a cougar can travel from the SD blackhills up through Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ontario, NewYork, and then into Connecticut to get killed, a wolf from this island could go just about anywhere too.Have you looked at a map to see where this island is ?
No that's when they cross the ice looking for other food sources. If not before they run out of moose. So I'm guessing these wolves have been educated to stop killing moose when their numbers get under control again?
This has got to be one of the dumbest, waste of time and resources I've seen yet
