I read an article 20+ years ago is some bowhunting magazine where the guy had just completed a 'deer slam'. He listed 6 animals, Rocky Mounty muley, desert muley, whitetail, coues whitetail, columbia blacktail and sitka blacktail. I've been working on it ever since, but am still only 2/3 there. Need to make time to go get my two blacktail deer. I've killed mine ranging in terrain from the low desert of Az to high mountains above 8500 ft and gone as far east as Nebraska to get this far. It's quite an adventure and I can't wait for the next chapter. Maybe 2018 if I don't draw an elk tag here at home in Az. Thanks for the article, it was a good read and kinda relit the fire under my butt to go get it done.

It's a little late, but this article left out a species. The sika deer. Although non-native, it has well established populations in the eastern US that are available for hunting.

Maybe since its a non-native species of deer is why it was left off the list.

That's correct. The Sika isn't recognized by Boone & Crockett or Pope & Young.
