A Winchester gets a facelift... (FINISHED)

So, after liking how my mossbergs facelift turned out, ive decided that my old faithful backup turkey guns needs a facelift. I got this gun when I was 12 and used it to kill many many turkeys up until about 2 years ago when I bought the 935... When i originally bought it, I did a whirlwin paint job on it and well after banging it around for 10 plus years, decided it was time for a change...

I just began painting it this afternoon, so no its not finished yet... Right now, its been masked where I didnt want any paint in it. And its got its first coat of paint on it, Tan..

Heres what it looks like currently...

Letting it dry completely overnight, tomorrow will undergo the rest of the painting.. more pics to follow tomorrow... In the end, it will look "similar" to the 935, with a couple of small changes as well as one supersecret special addage that will be unveiled soon...

Dont ya worry.. come tomorrow, the desert will be long forgotten...
What kinna clear do you use? I paint alot of guns for people and have had real good luck with the krylon satin or matte clear. i apply several cotes I let each one dry and kepp doing that until i use almost a whole can on one gun. It holds up really good that way. I ve got some that i painted over 5 years ago that still look just like when i painted them. Good luck bud and if theres anything i can help with shoot me a pm. Im not sayin im an expert by no means but ive did enough of them ive figured out pretty well what not to do. Good luck bud.

How's it coming, Rebel?

Can't wait to see it... :pop:
Rocko, i use the krylon satin, works great.. I do also put a few oats on it, just until im satisfied. Id love to see some that youve painted, i always like seeing new ideas.. Ive painted a few, just getting into patining them more seriously.. My mossy 935 was the last one i painted, theres a thread on here somewhere about it...

Chairman, glad ya asked sir... here is how it sets right now... Unfortunately havent gotten as much done today on it as I had hoped so far, my brother his wife and new baby showed up, so painting kinda got put on the back burner, the browns a dryin good, next will be green, then the superspecial secrect addage... Anywho, here ya go..

Hers a knight i painted its just some tan on synthetic to break it up. Its hard to see good but for some reason since i did this ive had several people want it on there front stuffers. i dont know why just muzzleloaders though.

And heres an old single shot 12 i painted these pictures are pretty sorry. And whats bad is i dont have any pictures of the good ones ive done. These are all guns ive painted for myself and i just try new stuff with my guns and dont get near as anal with them as i do woth other peoples.

And heres the latest one i did its an auto i just bought a week or two ago. It turned out pretty neat. Its hard to see all the detail but i did alot of overlaping layering on this one to give it some depth. i wish now i would have put some brighter grren in it for spring season but i kinna painted it for an all season type look.

And im not sure what paint you use but i buy the krylon that is actually labled for coamoing. And i cant remember what type of grren it is i buy for the spring green ill have to look. I ll try to get some pics of some of the guns ive painted for my buddies and post them later. But keep us posted on your progress i really like seeing how someone else is doing it to give me ideas. Looking great so far.

:hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: If only the "new age" colors would work... My whole gun would be pink and yellow :hysterical::hysterical:
