Good deal! The older I get the more I am of the opinion just leave us law abiding people alone and let us own what we want.

gun-control groups say they became a loophole exploited by gunmakers to make weapons more deadly.

They say the same thing about "silencers".

Here are the facts. You really should wear hearing protection even with a "silencer" if you are shooting much at all.

223/5.56mm. Unsuppressed, we recorded an average of 166-171 dB for the 16″ and 20″ AR15 rifles. When shooting with a silencer, the levels come in at an average of 135-145dB. That's an average reduction of 36dB between the unsuppressed and suppressed shots

A 22 LR supressed still comes in at about 120dB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • 120 dB: ambulance siren, chainsaw, rock concert

This link has great chart.
.

This link has great info on common sounds and their dB level.

Frustrating when non facts are used to create laws due to agendas.

question thwack: I think I noticed in that Bourbour Creek videos that it did not look as if the shooters where wearing ear protection..maybe they where & I just didn't notice and they IIRC are shootin 6.5s. That aint right is it?

I know the one rifle in one of the videos was a 6.5 x 47. He also has shown 308s that they retired barrels off of after 5000 shots because they opened up to 3/4 MOA.
I imagine that firing out of a window like that will also cut down on a lot of the sound making it back to your ears.

Never say never, but as far as I know there is not a suppressor in existence that will stop the sonic boom of a bullet crossing the sound barrier. That is the loud crack of a high power rifle that echoes. Just the other day I was talking to a highly experienced reloader and shooter. He showed me his 22 LR that was suppressed. He thought he would jump in and get a tax stamp and a suppressor for a 22 LR and be cool shooting a quiet 22 LR. Common sense right? A 22LR isn't loud right? A suppressed one should be reallly quiet. He said don't do it! Total waste of money
on a 22. Barely made any difference at all.

Hopefully my boys will be making a video for youtube soon that will demonstrate the truth about suppressors. If and when we get it done I will post it.
(don't worry what we are going to do is 100% legal)

Are you using super sonic or subsonic ammo in the 22LR ? It makes a difference.

That was a guy I met one time. I would guess he was using regular 22 ammo but I can't say for sure.
But yes, you are 100% correct! Huge difference in sub vs super sonic.
This is where a lot of anti gun lawmakers want to say a suppressor is a silencer. They also want to lump it in with AR's.

Here is the full blown truth about the marriage of the two(suppressor and 5.56 ARs) If you take a 5.56/223 and load it down to
subsonic you have just created a 22LR with subsonic ammo. If you use normal super sonic ammo in a supressed 223 or a 308 AR
you still are gonna be really loud!!! It may not bust your ears to ringing with one shot, but your ears will still know it was almost painful.

They definitely exploited a loophole to get them included in alternative season, so no reason to think any other other loophole wouldn’t be explored
