https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Day_of_the_Dead

The multi-day holiday involves family and friends gathering to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and helping support their spiritual journey. In Mexican culture, death is viewed as a natural part of the human cycle. Mexicans view it not as a day of sadness but as a day of celebration because their loved ones awake and celebrate with them

We had an amazing day. Didn’t set very long in the morning and had does snorting all around us. Figured the day would be blown but they kept showing up. My boy said there’s deer back in the timber. Oh it’s a big buck crud! he left. There is another deer buck or doe? I was thinking I could see a small rack. I was watching through our new Canon xa11. Hard to see and focus back that far in timber. He took one step forward and lowered his rack and I saw all of it. I said “oh Shiite if you can see chest you better shoot now!”
Tackett is left handed and sitting on my right side in double buddy stand. He had to push the side of the gun against my chest hard because the buck was directly left of me.
So unfortunately we didn’t get the shot on camera because the camera went everywhere but on the deer while he lined up and shot.

Later in the day I almost missed getting Wyatts shot on film. Glove bumped the record button off. Then I got it back on and re-found the buck just in time to hear and see the shot hit the buck. I then turned the camera to Wyatt’s face ... big smile thumbs up and an I was right on him! Then I got Wyatt doing all of his own blood trailing and find the buck on camera. Genuine excitement caught on camera.

Was “one of those” hunts that will never be forgotten. A truly awesome day. Much better than me shooting a deer myself.

Any guesses on the age of the old buck? He went 203 gutted.
