Hey Pastor, you may want to look at the "Master Angler" qualifications for short nose gar. It's 23" or 5 lbs. Looks like you may qualify.

Sounds good!!! Next time you clean one, how about a picture tutorial for all of MWT to see!!! I've seen one on a big gator gar, but not on a smaller gar. I'm going to try one, if I ever kill one big enuff to mess with!!!

    Definately worth trying Brad!
Not the greatest fish in the world but very edible...
    Maybe a little rubbery.

They've got loins in them just like a deer.
A few cuts with tin snips then you roll the "loins" out like a deer.no bones in meat.
On one side of the "loin" is a filming, fatty layer I fillet off.

My dad always says it's really good but you got to eat it hot.

I rank it there with bass and drum...Makes good filler at a fish fry.

We used to snag bigguns coming up Swan Creek out of Bull Shoals.

Some of the funnest fishing I've EVER done!A gar around 10-15 lbs. fighting in current....HECK YA!

I'll try to find some pics.
