I have decided to plant a couple of crops I have never done before. This will help my bees and my ground I believe.
The first one is buckwheat and the second is Argentine Canola a form of rape i believe.
Im looking for quick growth and lot of blooms. Does anyone have any comments on these 2?
thanks!!

Buckwheat is a for sure quick grower with lots of blooms. After it seeds, mow it & it will regenerate on it's own & you'll have another crop. Not sure you can't get 3 growths out of it in a growing season.

[rquote=1513579&tid=105471&author=TOBRYAN]Randy, any particulars on planting, herbicide, fertilizer you can give me from your experience.[/rquote]

Terry, you'll not find an easier plant to grow. I done nothing other than disc the ground & harrow in the seeds. After it matured, I brush hogged it & got good regeneration. Seeds need minimal soil contact. Didn't see much deer usage, minor browsing, but it did suppress all weed competition. It should be a very good choice for the bees.
