Sounds great to me. Ten dollars a year is a drop in the bucket for chance at a coveted elk tag.

$10, not bad at all, how many hunters do you guys think will apply each year?
Quote "At least one of those permits will be dedicated to one of the 350 qualifying landowner properties surrounding MDC's elk restoration area in Carter, Shannon and Reynolds counties;"

I wonder if those that are against land owners getting "Free Tags" will protest the one guy getting a free tag for an elk taken on his own land?
I hope they allow people to accompany the hunter that don’t have tags to assist with the hunt, packing out, etc...and just for safety in general.

You can tag along but you will not be able to call or assist with hunt, is what the top agent in Missouri told me.
Any guess on the numbers that apply ...100k apply thats 1 million ..That will pay for 40 of the Elk brought here

It should pay for itself in a couple years....always figured it would. I wonder if NR is $10 as well, didn't read the link.

Meh. I guess that's better than nothing, but I'm pretty most western states allow more participation than that.

This isn't like deer season where 100s of thousands of essentially random/anonymous hunters are in the woods. This is ten people in a limited area. As the article said, MDC is going to talk to each person.
NR not allowed.
Good!

I am guessing that there will be some outfitters/guides wanting to cash in on this!
My guess is some local landowners offer elk hunting on their prperty for a trespass fee.

I'm going to guess 90,000 once the word gets out.
