my father in law also gave my wife a .455 webley V1 it has a patent number 1916 on it. it is in great shape does anybody know anything about this gun. thankyou.

yeah, dont sell it. if you do fly over to england and have someone hock it for you. thats a pretty neat weapon. i like the bayonet attachment.

Fiocchi still makes ammo for it, bring dollars.........

A lot of them have been butchered and converted to .45 ACP, so have it checked out to make sure it's in good condition. Remember, too, that it's nearly 100 years old now, and don't shoot it a whole lot.
They are a good sturdy gun, and had to be, to survive in the trenches in WW1. Nice old guns, but not especially powerful, but better than the .38 that replaced them. S&W, and Colt, also made .455s, and Colt made some 1911s in a rimless .455 shell, when the Brits couldn't make enough Webleys.
