MMP and Harvester sell 50x40 sabots if you want a similar round.

50 x 40 sabots ?? These .45 cal rounds are excess. I sold my .45 cal BP rifle and now have a .50 cal bp rifle. I have plenty off .50 cal rounds, but would trade these .45 cal rds for a similar #of .50 cal just to move them... Thanx = Bart
Yes, you can buy just the sabots and use your bullets in them. A 50 pack of sabots is under $10 at many places.

I might still have some around here and i will never use them. Probably Harvester 50x40 Crushribs and maybe a few MMP also.

They look just like these

Ahh !! Now I understand !! Hadn't thought of that. Thanx !!
50x40 is not ideal but those just might work in your application. I dont shoot them because i shoot pretty hot loads in my only 50cal. Much hotter than you likely shoot.

I still have a couple 45s though and that bullet is fairly good in a fast twist. If you had the Dead Centers i would be more interested in a trade. I got a ton of 50cal sabots. Mostly MMP HPH-24s and a pretty vast selection of bullets also.

I have a bunch of Lehigh/Bloodline 250gr bullets im not using. They are a brass controlled fracture and plain nasty on deer. My only 50cal is a 1-32 though. The 250gr and 275gr Bloodlines just wont shoot in that slow of a twist. You need a 1-28 or faster.

I've read a little in the interim, sounds like they'll work fine. I got rid of my t/c .45 cal and got a cva wolf .50 cal a couple years back. Don't shoot a lot, probably last me the rest of my days (I'm 70 with Parkinson's...). I usually shoot the 150 grains of T7, with 250 grain bullet. That way it's indexed on my Nikon scope. Last couple years been hunting a swamp where I'm lucky to get a 50 yd shot, so I've dropped down to 120 gr T7 powder. Blew a hole right thru that buck, no problem....
