Im gonna buy a 300 win mag after christmas, and have looked at several of them. I dont want to spend a whole heck of a lot of money on the set up. I looked at the TC Venture doesnt look bad for the money, and also looked at rem. model 700. Anybody own or have ideas on one that is less than $700.00

If you don't have a problem buyin used, look for a Win Model 70. Back in the early-mid 2000's they made a lot that had black synthetic stocks, etc. You can get them for about $350-$400. Drop in a new timney and you've got no more than $550 in it.

That's what my 7mm Rem Mag is and it's a good shooter.

a used Ruger Mark II all weather would also fit your needs. lot's of options out there at the price you're willing to go. basicly at that point find what apeals to you and don't look back.

I'd keep an eye on the Cabela's and Bass Pro ads. Cabela's has a couple Remingtons and that T/C advertised right now.... You also get all kinds of certificates to get a certain amount off of your purchase when you spend a certain amount if you have their visa card.... like $30 off when you spend $150 (think you'd have that covered)

This URL should work. Gives an error, but if you say OK it should take you to the ad. They're constantly running sales like this.

Go to galleryofguns.com click on gun genie and you can check prices on different models from dealers close to you. My .300 is a Ruger and I love it. I think the standard Hawkeye is around $650, and that includes the scope rings. Mine is the older markII but the Hawkeyes are pretty much the same thing, just a little new and improved. These are great guns, JMO.
