Everything but our last 24 acres was done with MDC cost share. This last one is through the NRCS through their conservation stewardship program. Pays way, way better than the MDC

Nice! We are in a "concerned" area, so we are at 75% on cost share. We've also got some other plans in place with them, so its nice to see some help for those of us who are truly implementing a "green deal". But, as you know...only the folks in the big cities understand conservation which is why we have a "new" green deal Lol.
Heck, we started all this 2 years ago without any cost share so this is just a cherry on top.

The area I started on is predominately honey locust, so there wasn't a lot to save other than some mulberry growing by the honey locust bases.

I don't know of anyone that uses honey locust. I've wondered the same thing as it looks like it would make some great looking items.

I've found one hedge on the entire 160 acres.

High BTU fire wood. Rots slow and easy to kill with Remedy herbicide. One ring around tree then treat with 25% Remedy = dead tree. Most Honey Locust treated that way will stand for over 20 years.
