I am half German as well.... So, I can Jager, Sealgair as needed, and it also means I like Blü or Blu.
A person who loads their own can turn a 300WSM into a 308 win with just the purchase of a different powder
Ya, understood... I had mine loaded about like a 3006. But, I sold the 300wsm(used 4 deer seasons) for $750, and bought the 308 for $820, then I'll get a 10% rebate of $82. So, pretty much a swap, and I get one more round in the mag, and a 2" shorter barrel, and 1 lb lighter brand new rifle.
But it is impossible to turn that into a 300WSM if you ever needed to. Regardless, it will make a darn fine MO Whitetail rifle
I have other rifles that I can use if I need something a tad more powerful. I was thinkin, what rifle would be a best all round on my farm deer killer. I love the BLR platform, and one in 308 just seemed like the best choice for me personally. 7mm-08 would have worked too.... But, 308 with a 150gr bullet, there may be other rifles just as good, but not many that are better suited for killing whitetails the way my property lays out....
Shoulda been a pumper in 270... Black cap...Monte Carlo stock....See thru mounts....
If I had to hunt the vast desolation that CatDaddy hunts, that's what I would have went with. It's a testament to his extreme skill and dedication that he can kill fatty's like the one he killed last November from such a challenging piece of property. Mere mortals would hunt there for years, before they could achieve 10% of the success that the catman has. But in order to do that, he has to have the very best gear, guns and intel a person can get their hands on. My place, its just crawling with deer, so a 308 lever gun, and a handful of granola is all I really need to get it done.
which reminds me.....need to throw a little gravel down below me stand.....me rear tire slipped in mud a little, last November.
Browning made a pump rifle too, if that is your hangup.
I like lever guns, there can only be one Catdaddy, no need to try and copy everything he does...... Now, shhhhhhh!
Word on the street is all the good spots to hide are already full of turkeys in anticipation of Cat Pops being cut loose on them in April.
However they are laying out on the beach having drinks in Henry's neck of the woods
didnt you carry that 300 the day we were walking around bitter creek?
Yup, and this 308 will possible get carried on any long walks in Montana this year, depending on what kind of 200 yd accuracy I can work out of it.
We carried some other stuff out that day and I almost died.
I think I heard you bragging back in camp about what fine physical shape I was in. I'm pretty much the Jack LaLane of our generation. They are big shoes to fill but if anyone can handle it, I can.
You were like Muhammed Ali in the outback, floating like a butterfly, but stinging like a bee.
I am getting older and fatter.... So, the extra 1lb lost on toting the .308 over the .300 WSM is well worth the extra $30 I had to spend to swap them out.
The first thing most people think when they first meet rat is work out guru.
I wonder if any of them have found one for him yet.
