got a call today with an invite to go shoot some yotes..advice?
Watch downwind. They almost always circle or come in downwind.
Be sure to skin them and eat them. Wouldn't want you being wasteful.
sounds like my wife
Aim small miss small.
One person with a rifle, one with a shotgun. It's surprizing how close the can get without being seen.
Kill them just based off general principle.
-Don't get discouraged if it doesn't work the first few sets.
-Don't turn your caller up too loud.
-Play the wind accessing where you'll set up.
-Call for 20ish minutes.
-Don't be afraid you use coyote vocals, especially challenge barks this time of year.
- keep your caller away from you, that way their attention isn't right on you. A little motion decoy helps a bunch with this too.
Last night I read in FFG a nice article on yote calling/hunting. Made me think of this thread. I believe it was in the Dec issue. Give it a read.
Tell me where you plan to go and we can scout it for ya!
When you going bean ?
No. We ain't opussums. Just because something can be eaten doesn't mean it should be.
I just bought the foxpro call with the motion attachment, didn't pull one in the first set, but going back for more. Good luck!
