    Yea I really have no idea how often an actual mother nature sparked wildfire would occur. If man weren't around the only source would be lightning. And how often does lightning strike when its dry enough to sustain a wildfire?

    you mean dozing every inch of brush and planting a vast sea of fescue doesn't work? Well poop. I can remember my dad always making the comment, "a quail would need to pack a sack lunch to cross this field".

    Every year there are natural wildfires they control down in MTNF, caused by lightning. It happens more than what people think. I can only imagine without the man made clearings and the natural prairie grass we had, those fires would be going from 0 to 60 pretty fast.
