....for some that either fish'd with me or read my threads in trout forum....im obviously ate up with trout fish'n.My trout fish'n world is really a small box that encompasses southern momo and northern arky but by sheer luck this small box holds some of the best waters [to me] in the world.....tailwaters.Tailwater rivers created by huge hydroelectric dams for power that release water from impoundments[large lakes] that is to cold for native species [bass/panfish] to proliferate as they once had in undammed, free flowing river....hence the stocking of cold water species...trout.
Now as most here know...I am unbias'd to techniques used to harvest/kill/C&R any and all game as long as it makes you happy and done legally and am as comfortable snagging/using bait as I am using a down rigger/fly fish'n.So's....
This year I think would be a good year for the world renowned shad run on taney/bull shoals/norfork tailwaters. An incurrence that stun's/kills shad on impoundments when water reach's 40-49 degrees and shad get flushed with releases from turbines of dams, creating frenzy of over indulgence to trout...be it major run[10+ miles] or minor run[mile or so below dam]The extreme cold winter is setting this up as it doesn't happen every year[major run] because bull shoals/norfork/taney lake's doesn't have optimum conditions[water temp+heavy release+shad die off] for a [major]run every year...although[minor] runs are common.
It would also be a good year to check out norfork river[maybe the best trout water in Midwest/world] because rumor has it that federal hatchery on norfork is slated to close in 2015 due to federal cuts/pricy needed repair.Although arky has state hatchery,it's doubtful that it be enough to sustain pressure norfork gets ....this can be take'n as a canary in coal mine or speculation....jus say'n.
As for rest of forecast...trout parks will be trout parks.I would hope bennitts new hatchery would start producing bigger trout by now with their new hatchery....because average size sure went down last couplo.
...and small intimate creeks will not be reported because we all know they are to fragile, scenic for internet reports and are best left for hard work'n,eco minded fishers and gawdforbid the mass's.

Oh man, what a weekend... I should probably call in sick, and go sleep the rest of the day.

Corn Beef and cabbage for dinner Friday, Saturday and lunch on Sunday after a round of Golf. Lost count on Guinness consumed as the count wasn't wit me. Eagles last night, great show for a bunch of old timers, Joe Walsh can still rake it, and still can't sing. :D

As for the world record fish, sorry I missed that. Just don't call it a trash fish. :wave1:

good morning
fishy I know of no ongoing investigations beside finding shipping box fo crossbow.....guess I'm gonna cut gun shipping box I got from H&R for new barrel I bought from them or remmy for trigger recall work.
cj as fo joe walsh......I never could grasp he was a eagle fo some reason?I guess being in james gang before buying 2 of his first 3 solo albums before joining the eagles and all the other solo albums he put out did that to me?Albeit......I think the eagles did their best work when he was member,i always considered him a solo artist.
Cant imagine what eagles sounded like without Henley/frey?

Listen to the dueling guitar solo from on Hotel California. That is Don Felder and Joe Walsh. Iconic...
Walsh often says that he was at his best creatively when he was with the eagles.

I guess its kinda like Sammy Hagar......I first started listening to him in Montrose band and of course Van Halen......but to me he's mo a solo artist.
I hear you and I agree on the solo artist thing. I've see Don Felder a couple times with other acts at Riverport and everytime he starts playing Hotel California, I hear people around me asking why the hail he is playing an eagles song. :D But yea, Joe Walsh always identifies as a solo act... Henly/Frey got the most name recognition in that group IMO.
I saw Hagar in 1982 (Three Lock Box) and 1984 (VOA/I Cant Drive 55 tour) before he defiled Van Halen. In 82 he had Gary Pihl playnig lead guitar... they opened for Boston a few years earlier and when Hagar went with VH in 85-ish, pihl was asked to join Boston and they cut Third Stage. Pihl still stands out as one of the most amazing lead guitarists I've ever seen in person and I've seen a bunch.
no hijacking in the forecast thread :D

Last night, Joe Walsh did 5-6 songs that were either his solo tracks, or from James Gang. Pretty much some of the best moments of the show for me. The show they did on the History of the Eagles, Glenn Frey was talking about the addition of Joe Walsh to the Eagles... They were replacing Bernie Leadon with him... He said, well the vocals are maybe not going to be quite as good, but man are we going to rock!.... The Eagles have always had people coming and going outside of Henley and Frey..... Last night, Henley was only "original" Eagle there. Randy Meisner, Bernie Leadon, Frey and Henley being 4 originals. Added Don Felder for either their second or third LP, don't remember which.

Anyway, it was a very good show last night, and I am happy I went. They played about 30 songs I rek'n.

Saw Sammy in 1978/9 with Boston, and then again at SuperJam 80'. He was headliner for SuperJam, only in STL, Journey was everywhere else..... Van Haggar is not real Van Halen.

And, Montrose ROCK'd. One of my most listened to 8tracks back in HS. :D
