"Welcome to
Outdoors Owners Network"
Network Overview
It's a Hunt
Club...plus a Whole Lot More
The Outdoor Owners Network is a new
company organized with the purpose of sharing private rural
land for sportsmen's recreational use. The members are both
landowners AND non-landowners. The primary purpose of the Network is to
improve access to quality hunting property. As we grow, however, we intend
to provide access to pretty much any outdoor activity you can
think of, from floating an Ozark stream to operating deep sea charters.
Future plans even include an opportunity for property ownership for all
non-landowner members!
We plan to provide all you've ever
wanted in an outdoor experience from one service. We anticipate our
company will most directly complete with other hunt clubs. It will also
pull from a range of outdoor oriented markets including hunting lease
arrangements, hunting and fishing outfitter services, corporate retreats,
and maybe even some of the timeshare resort industry.
Reservations
are Simple, Easy, and Fair for All Members
Landowners receive "credits"
based on the value of their property. Non-landowners may become members by
purchasing "lifetime
credits" in the Network. The members have
access to all of the Network's property through a reservation system
that is based on the use of member owned credits. The reservations are set
up in three or four day blocks. Check-in and check-out days and times will
always be on Mondays and Fridays at noon. Peak demand reservations
will be auctioned off through the Bid
on This page on this site to ensure a fair
system for booking these times.
The credits renew annually
and are deposited in the member’s account every year on January
1st. Non-landowner credits will also carry forward to
future years allowing you to accumulate them for future use. There also is a
credit rental
program that allows members to potentially
profit from their membership in the Network by renting their
credits to other Network users.
We Do All
the Work
Management
of the company will primarily strive to maintain a proper
balance of property and people. We'll operate and maintain the
reservation system and lodging accommodations. Improving
the quality of wildlife habitat, especially for whitetail deer, will
also be a top priority for us. A two dollar ($2.00) property management
fee will be assessed per credit booked through the reservation system for
these services. We'll do our best to work with property owners to
allow us to emphasize what's best for the recreational use, such
as leaving standing crops for wildlife.
We
plan to provide a wide range of sleeping accommodations at each
site. These should range from rustic tent-only campsites to
luxury full services lodges. A reasonable lodging charge (i.e. $10.00 per
night for campsites with a tent) will also be collected when reservations
are made.
We'll
provide all the resources for a great hunt/trip including: topo maps and aerial
photographs; patterning the game and suggestions on how to hunt them;
setting up well placed stand sites; utilizing trail cameras so you know
what's on specific properties; and a lot more. By combining resources with
other outdoorsmen, you're ability to hunt trophy deer and other game will significantly
increase.
All property
in the Network will have reasonable regulations enforced by us to
ensure proper management. These rules will cover a range of areas from
quality deer management to cleanliness. Our focus will be to
ensure every person using the Network will have an equal
opportunity to enjoy it, whether it's on the first day of the season
or the last.
It's About
Privacy & Sustainability
Sportsmen prefer
a private place where they are able to fully enjoy the outdoors
without the worry of bumping into others on public land. Hunting leases
provide this benefit, and are great, but they are typically renewed on an
annual basis. Hunters who manage leased property themselves for
wildlife, and are successful at improving the habitat, have likely also
increased the value of the lease, potentially costing them more
later! We believe our approach will provide benefits to landowners on a
larger scale that will help control long term cost increases. The
natural demand market will dictate those cost increases as we successfully
improve the quality of their property.
Our
long range goal is to provide shared ownership in land to non-landowners. Leasing
land was a strange notion 20 years ago in the days when knocking on doors
and a hand shake were all you needed to hunt on quality private land. Today,
hunting leases are standard across the industry, but they also bring uncertainty
to the sport. We believe a more sustainable view of the future of the
sport will need to include pooling resources with other outdoorsmen that
should help stabilize costs of land access in the long run.
This will lead deeper into the conservation and preservation of land,
and your ability to hunt and enjoy the outdoors for generations ahead.
Even
if you can afford it, a lot of outdoorsmen and women don't want the
responsibility of owning your own land. If you can count on both hands the
number of days you're able to spend in the woods, does a substantial
investment in exclusive ownership make sense? Shared ownership is a
logical choice for most outdoorsmen without
the headache, or at least concern, of renegotiating leases annually.
