Default Tag Question

First year having landowner tags. How does it work if I plan to hunt my land and some public land around where I live some. I'm assuming I have to get resident tags, but do they cancel out on the amount of deer you can get in a year?

You can only hunt on the land you have the landowner tags for if you only have landowner tags. If you hunt anywhere else you have to buy tags.
You can only kill one buck with a rifle but you could kill however many does you have the tags for. So if you have a landowner any deer and you buy an any deer tag you can kill 2 deer on your own land or one on your and one elsewhere.
At least that is how I understand it but I am not an MDC employee so always read the regulations or ask and agent to be sure.

Yes, if you hunt off your property then you need to have a regular tag.....

For Archery - 1 Buck before Rifle Season/1 Buck after rifle season with one or the other tag. Or 2 Bucks after Rifle Season

For Rifle Season - 1 Buck with one or the other Tag.

That was my understanding, but I was making sure if I took one early season on public that it didn't cancel one of my landowner tags out. Not a big deal just curious.

Thanks for the help guys

To clarify, you can kill three bucks in a year. 2 with a bow (only one before rifle season) and one with a gun. Regardless of the tags you use

If you kill a buck, it does cancel out a tag....

If you kill a buck on property other than yours, then you cannot kill one with your land owner tag.

Your bought any deer tag only cancels your land owner tag when filled.

You can only get one buck rifle and two with a bow irregardless which tags u use

Having landowners tags will not allow u to get an extra buck.

I don't think filling a purchased any deer tag cancels your landowner any deer tag. If you kill a buck with one you can only kill a doe with the other one but it is not cancelled.
That is how I understand it anyway.

yes, if you kill a buck on public ground, your landowner any deer tag can still be used to kill a doe. It doesn't cancel the tag, just the buck option
