...for a good cause anyway.
One of my other pursuits outside of hunting is cycling. This September, for the second year, I will be participating in the Bike MS cycling event held in Columbia. It will entail riding 150 miles over two days. The fundraising from the event goes to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Like I said, this is my second year riding in this event. When I signed up last year, I honestly did it as a challenge for myself with the fundraising being almost an afterthought. However, after signing up and making it known that I was riding, I had numerous friends and acquaintances come forward to tell me how much they appreciated my efforts because they, or people close to them, suffer from MS. I honestly didnít realize how many people I know that are affected by the disease. At the event, I got to witness firsthand the effects of the disease and the appreciation of those afflicted. A team of riders with MS were riding special bikes and pedaling with their hands because they had lost the use of their lower bodies. Hundreds of MS patients showed up to encourage and cheer us on as we started and finished the ride.
Iím sorry to get long-winded, but I just want to relay how this event and funds we raise do truly affect the lives of many people. I know that this isn't really "outdoors" related and that you guys likely get hit up for many donations. However, I think there are many of us on here that are impacted by the disease. I would truly appreciate ANY support that you could give. I will include links below if you would like to use a card and donate online. If you canít donate, I certainly understand.
