I looked at a couple of boats that had that hidaway foot control and I didn't like it. I move my foot control many times during a fishing day. It depends on which side of the boat I do my fishing from. I sit at an angle different than straight ahead while I cast to the shoreline.

I wouldn't want to step into the hole if the control is moved from it. Seemed like an accident waiting to happen.....but then again I've never used one and I may be all wet in my assumptions.

Recessed is the only way to go!
It makes a huge difference on both your back and leg, and even your ankle. If you have don't have one and there is room, you can make or buy the tray and add them pretty easily.

My current boat has the recessed pedal tray and I will never own a boat without it. It may not matter as much if you sit on a butt seat while running the trolling motor since you aren't supporting all of your weight, but you really notice a difference in how your knees and legs feel after a day of fishing with a recessed tray if you stand to fish the entire time.

It has it's positives and negatives ...over all I like it . I can see where if you stood all day running the boat it would be a huge plus but I don't . The recess is nice to have out of the way but there again it would be nice at times to be able to move the pedal .

Personally I'm more of a hand control guy but HC just wouldn't work with the layout of the boat and the electronics I'm having installed

I could see where you might break a hip or something.

You can make an insert that makes the hole flush with the deck if needed. People that buy bass boats with the recessed tray that are using Terrova's do it all the time. The Terrova pedals don't fit in the recessed trays and are much lower profile than the pedals on cable steer motors. Even if they fit, they wouldn't work very well in those trays because they sit too low. When I gig suckers in my boat, I just throw a piece of plywood over the hole.

Same here all the way down to Forsyth.
