[QUOTE=badlander;3287281]Ours is basically a conventional build on slab, in the living area and pole construction in the rest.

Badlander, not to get to personal, but can you share an approximate cost for what you show there. Slab, building and interior (basically from bare ground to move in ready)? My wife and I have thought about selling and doing something like that in the future when the kids are gone.

Not at all; we wound up right around 100K. Designed and drawn by me, and the kitchen install was done by myself and my wife. The rest of the build was done by contractor.

As a side note: our primary residence is conventional construction and We actually like the shouse as much or more. OP, if building on slab I would recommend a heated slab we didn't, as we're not there full time and I was afraid of freeze issues. That floor gets a tad chilly in the winter.

Nice looking badlander! We're looking at something similar in our future too.

Thanks for sharing!

I would not build a pole barn. You can get one framed like a house for the same price the only difference in cost is the concrete which you are going to have anyway. Then having it framed on 16" centers from the begging you won't have the extra lumber furring out the walls.

You are correct sir; that is how ours is built. I assumed that was what the OP had in mind. Theliving area of ours is framed conventionally and the rest built as a pole building. ImageUploadedByMissouri Hunting1490047394.866808.jpg. Living area framing. Garage is regular pole building construction.

That's how I built mine. Next one will be all stick built. I just priced a 30x50 and it was 300$ difference for the two types.
