With an average protein content of 22-23 percent and 62 percent digestibility, Alfa graze produces better feed results under good management than most other grazing crops. Start with a firm seedbed, especially when seeding conventionally. Always seed alfalfa at a depth of ¼ to ½ inch in most soils. In sandy soils, you can get by up to ¾ inch. The use of a cultipacker during land preparation, is still a fine tool to prepare a firm seedbed and provide the best cover for alfalfa. Seeding rate of 25 lbs per acre. Recommended soil pH 6.5 or above. Planting dates spring or late summer.
