The Gale Kahler II Buck
We appreciate the opportunity in sharing our hunt with Missouri Whitetails.com. We hope your subscribers enjoy the pictures and "tails" of the great hunt. This 14 point buck with a rough score of 166 was taken on opening day in Section 13, two miles north of Dalton, MO on Blanche Kahler's farm by Gale Kahler II (G2) the son of Gale Kahler both from O'Fallon, MO. G2 shot this deer in the neck at 0832 on opening day. This is the largest deer G2 has shot but this is not the largest deer harvested off this farm. This is the third largest killed. Several years ago in the same location a 23 point scoring 204 by Don Smith and a 18 point scoring 190 was taken by John Cullers. G2 shot this 14 pointer when it came out of a thick wooded area to a deer plot sowed this fall. This was the first year Kamp Kahler has used a food plot and from it two bucks were harvested (nice 5 pointer with a 4 pointer still in the woods at press time). G2 and dad plan on sowing three more plots next year around the thirty acre woods. The 172 acre farm is in CRP and has yielded some big deer, quail, squirrels, and turkey. One Bobcat has been seen on the farm. They will go back next week end to enjoy the hunt and tell the deer "tails" and will look for the thirty point buck. They have seen him and they know he is in there. They are scared to go in after him. Some hunters have gone into the woods never to return.
